Gender + Race technically returns to a “vintage” sound of rhythm and noise, driving harsh mid-tempo loops in the style of 90/00s – a climax of that wonderful genre. Once you liked the sound of acts like Sona Eact, Converter, Celluloid Mata? Maybe this minimalistic one will rock your shack, old wo/man. While that special kind of booty shakin’ beats is kept alive only by a few people these days Gender + Race raises one more flag for grooving noise – to put a smile on faces from the senior club. Target group 30/40+, `cause these are t(w)eenage tunes from gone days for us …
The spontaneous jamsession was recorded in October 2018, using a TR08, an Electribe ESX1 Mk1 and a TM300 Amp Modeller plus short TB03 and JP08 sequences. In January 2019 that one-track-session was sliced and edited.
Not only the “songs” are minimalistic: the ep comes with typical amateurish anti-design, well known from all Kuji releases.
Thanks for listening.
